Transparency International will release its annual global report on corruption on Tuesday morning, which will reveal the extent of corruption during the fall of Imran Khan’s government and the PDM government formed under the leadership of Shahbaz Sharif. Curse increased or decreased.

Transparency International is headquartered in Berlin and this global organization will release the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2023 report at 11 am on Tuesday. This report is based on the survey reports of various international organizations like World Economic Forum, World Bank, World Justice Project, Economic Intelligence Unit etc.

The report is expected to include the results of surveys and reports that were collected during the Shahbaz Sharif-led PDM government. As far as Transparency International’s previous reports are concerned, their analysis shows that corruption continued to increase in Pakistan after 2018 and during Imran Khan’s government.

In the CPI 2022 report, Pakistan was declared more corrupt than ever during the joint tenure of Shehbaz Imran. In the 2022 Transparency Report, Pakistan was included among the 10 countries with significantly lower CPI scores.

The Transparency International report was a charge sheet against both the PTI and PDM governments as Pakistan’s CPI score was the lowest since 2012. Surveys by various international organizations (whose reports were used by Transparency International to prepare the 2022 report) revealed that both the PDM and PTI governments were evaluated statistically.

However, the Asia Pacific report (which was part of the CPI 2022) discussed the Imran government. It was said that “Pakistan has also maintained its downward trend in terms of its statistics. Considering the political crisis, this year’s score is at the lowest level compared to 2012, i.e. 27 points.”

“Prime Minister Imran Khan came to power promising to tackle corruption and promote social and economic reforms, but little has been done on either of these fronts since taking office,” Transparency International’s CPI report said. Pakistan’s performance was the best in 2018 when it was ranked 64th from the bottom of the list and 117th out of 180 countries.

At that time Pakistan’s CPI score was 33. In 2019, corruption in Pakistan increased and its CPI score decreased from 33 to 32, while Pakistan ranked 61st from the bottom of the list and 120th overall out of 180 countries.

Corruption in Pakistan increased further in 2020 and its CPI score fell further, placing the country 57th on the bottom of the list and 124th out of 180 countries overall. In 2021, corruption in Pakistan further increased and its CPI score further decreased to 28, placing Pakistan at the bottom of the list at 41st and 140th out of 180 countries.

In 2022, corruption in Pakistan increased further and its CPI score dropped from 28 to 27, dropping Pakistan to 27th from the bottom of the list and 140th out of 180 countries.
