Kings captain Babar remains hopeful for team’s comeback

KARACHI: Babar Azam Karachi Kings’ skipper is confident for his side to make comeback in upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7 matches.

The PCB has been going through an insane clownfiesta for the past week, as everyone has seen. Some very interesting things have transpired, like the reappearance of Amir and Imad and the reappointment of Babar as the white-ball captain. But I want to focus on Babar’s appointment as a captain in this specific piece.

“When I gave up as captain [in 2023], I believed that I ought not to be doing it currently, that’s why I resigned it and I announced it oneself,” Babar stated. “The PCB made the decision when they returned it to me. We’ll talk about everything that happened here when I get back. In addition, I will make a public announcement if I have to resign as captain. I’m not going to duck behind anything. The public will be able to witness everything that occurs. However, I haven’t given it any thought yet. In the end, PCB makes the decision.

When asked if Babar took responsibility for the early departure in his role as captain. “I told you that we did not lose this because of one particular person,” Babar responded. We both win and lose as a team. You are drawing attention to the fact that, despite being captain, I am unable to assume the role of every player. Each of the eleven players is assigned a certain role. That’s why they traveled here to compete in the World Cup. I don’t think we’ve been able to work well together. We have to acknowledge that as a team, we didn’t perform up to par.
