Pakistan’s movie star Shaan Shahid turned down a key role in Bollywood’s action thriller ‘Ghajini’, believed it wasn’t something Bollywood needed him for.
Shaan Shahid declined the chance to play the lead role in the movie “Ghajini” due to his morals and convictions.
I keep getting offers, but I keep declining them. Shaan said to Nauman, “And the things I had to deal with in Pakistan were unbelievable, especially after turning down several offers from Bollywood.”
He said about Aamir Khan’s Ghajini, “I was offered a character that anyone in India could’ve done; it wasn’t something Bollywood needed me for.”
The Khuda Kay Liye actress went on, “I just had one question for them: ‘Why do you guys want a Pakistani for this?'” They said, “No one will be able to tell you’re Pakistani.” Of course they will, I told them. It was also the character of a villain, a person who sells in child parts and other similar items. For three or four days, I so attempted to persuade Aamir of my stance before citing a Punjabi example. I told him, “If you’re India’s pehelwan (heavyweight), I am Pakistan’s pehelwan (heavyweight), men paisay leke kushti nahi harunga (I won’t lose a fight for money).”
“I just refused because anyone could have done that role,” he said.
When Nauman asked the actor if Shaan’s concern was just about this, he replied, “Yes, they have brilliant actors, academies that are churning out 300 to 400 actors every day.” I also told Aamir that, if that’s really what you guys are searching for, we have a few Pakistani performers, like Nayyer Ejaz, who would be ideal for your part requirements.
