CINDA Delegation Discusses LG Law with JI Leaders

KARACHI: A delegation of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has met Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leaders to hold talks to end the ongoing sit-in against Sindh Local Government (LG) law, ARY News reported on Sunday.

On Friday, Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan of the Lahore High Court (LHC) received a visit from a group headed by Malik Sajjad Haider Maitla, President of the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) Multan.

Included in the gathering were Secretary-General Syed Anees Mehdi and Senior Advocate Malik Masroor Haider Usman.

The team extended an invitation to the chief judge to attend the High Court Bar Association in Multan ahead of schedule. The lawyer leaders discussed themes that both sides found fascinating and apprised the chief justice of the issues that the bar associations in the Multan division were facing.

They praised the chief justice’s actions for the convenience of lawyers and litigants and offered suggestions for improving the bar associations.

The head of the High Court Bar Association Multan requested that the chief justice increase the number of judges at the LHC’s Multan Bench due to the backlog of cases being caused by the current judicial shortage. He also suggested that nominations for LHC judges be extended to lawyers from the Multan bar.

In addition, the organization requested that the High Court Bar Association Multan’s conference hall have air conditioning and 500 executive chairs, as well as a ladies’ bar area and day care facility for female bar members. Additionally, they requested adequate money for the.
