A video of India captain Rohit Sharma being convinced by batter Virat Kohli to take a review off a wide delivery during the side’s first T20I against West Indies is viral.
Since taking over as India’s white-ball team’s permanent captain, Rohit Sharma has proven to be an exceptionally adept user of the Decision Review System (DRS).
He hasn’t made as many poor choices as wise ones.
Legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar was ecstatic about the 34-year-old’s DRS decisions during the first ODI against the West Indies. He likened them to those of former skipper MS Dhoni and added that, considering his remarkable success rate, the reviews could be called the “Rohit system.”
When Dhoni was there, I used to refer to it as the Dhoni Referral System. The inaugural One-Day International last week included Gavaskar saying live on the microphone, “And I mentioned it in the commentary that you can now definitely call it the Rohit system because he is getting it absolutely right so far.”
It is not him who is to blame for Rohit’s DRS success rate. If he wasn’t sure what to do, he asked his colleagues for advice, especially his predecessor Virat Kohli.
