ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan says his government wants to make Pakistan an Islamic Welfare State based on the principles of Riyasat-e-Medina and is working on fast track to achieve this objective.

انہوں نے کہا کہ مہذب معاشرے کا بنیادی اصول طاقتور کو قانون کے کٹہرے میں لانا ہے لیکن بدقسمتی سے جیلیں اشرافیہ سے نہیں غریبوں سے بھری جاتی ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ جب سے اشرافیہ نے نظام پر قبضہ کر لیا ہے، لوگوں کے پاس اپنے ہی ملک میں مواقع اور برابری کا میدان نہیں ہے۔
The Quaid’s speech was inspired by Misaq-i-Medina, the same scripture that Imran Khan claims motivates him, according to a number of objective scholars.
Many of us in this country have read Misaq-i-Medina. Not many others have. Many people, perhaps because of their particular mindset, can give the impression that they are not denigrating its existence but rather how it has been understood. Comparable is The Quaid’s August 11, 1947 address.
Therefore, it would be appropriate for Imran Khan to table the texts of the two documents in the house following his inaugural speech, inviting members from both sides of the island to engage in a thorough debate and, in the process, develop a consensus constitutional amendment bill to replace the Objective Resolution with it.
