The MDCAT 2020 examinations have been cancelled as the Sindh High Court (SHC) barred Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) from holding an entry test for medical colleges on November 15 after the Centre and provinces developed differences over the matter.
The Pakistan Medical Commission’s (PMC) constitution has come under fire from a leading association of Pakistani physicians, who blame the commission’s “incorrect” formation for MDCAT 2020’s cancellation.
The Pakistan Medical Association General Secretary, Dr. Qaiser Sajjad, told Geo Pakistan on Friday that the cancellation of the Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) by the Sindh High Court was inevitable because the commission was “incorrectly” established.
“It has a lot of issues; they will surface eventually,” he informed the hosts. He also chastised the PMC for not forming a board to conduct the MDCAT examination.
“How can you take an exam on November 15 when the board hasn’t been formed?” he inquired. “The whole process is strange.”
In an attempt to carry with the SHC ruling, the commission will probably nominate board members in an erratic manner, according to the secretary-general of the PMA. “They will quickly select and submit 10-15 names.”
