The prime minister took a decision in order to provide relief to the masses, the federal government has said. The prices of petroleum products are fixed by the government for 15 days.Earlier on November 5, the government had jacked up the prices of petrol and diesel by more than Rs8 per litre, days after the prime minister had announced a relief package for the masses.
It is important to note that the government is currently facing harsh criticism for its inability to control inflation, which is why it decided against raising fuel prices.
Many citizens’ economic power has been reduced by inflation in the face of unemployment and poor income, and any policies that place more of a burden on the general public are likely to be regarded with agitation and skepticism.
The opposition has already made the decision to start anti-government demonstrations, counting on the public’s annoyance with ongoing price increases and inflation.
