1. Harris
Harris needs to secure a delegated vote of 1,976 while also gaining support from Harris’s 2,538 delegates in the upcoming weeks. The nominee for president at next month’s Democratic National Convention is Vice President Kamala Harris. President Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race due to concerns about his age and health. He has pledged to support Harris in the election and will remain in office until his term concludes on January 20, 2025.
2. President Joe Biden
Voters for president could still change their minds before August 7, but 57 delegates have stated they are undecided. “I have taken on offenders of all types—predators who insult women, cheats who rip off consumers, and those who break the rules for their own gain,” Harris said to campaign workers just 28 hours after President Joe Biden, 81, exited the 2024 White House race.
3. Trump
The Trump campaign responded to Harris’ comments. Karoline Leavitt, the national communications secretary for the campaign, remarked that Vice President Kamala Harris “is even more liberal in her thinking and just as incompetent as Joe Biden.” She does not need to defend her support of President Biden’s failed agenda over the past four years; instead, she should address her own weak record on crime in California. Trump is facing potential punishment in September due to being found guilty of falsifying business records. He attempted to overturn Biden’s victory in 2020 and is now facing criminal charges.
4. Vice President Harris
Harris raised $81 million in the 24 hours following Biden’s exit, marking a significant fundraising effort during the campaign. The Vice President has expressed admiration for Biden’s service to the country. Harris, as an Asian American, would bring a fresh dynamic to the race against former President Trump, 78, providing both a generational and cultural contrast.
5. LLP
Two individuals familiar with the situation indicated that Eric Holder, the former U.S. Attorney General during President Barack Obama’s administration, along with his legal firm Covington & Burling LLP, will be screening candidates for Harris’s potential running mates.
