A civil court in Gujranwala has summoned caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq-Kakar over the recent hike in the prices of petroleum products.
Hearing a writ petition filed against the recent increase in petrol prices, Judge Mohammad Awais summoned the interim premier, secretary petroleum and Gujrawanla commissioner.

(آج) منگل کو ہونے والی سماعت کے بعد عدالت نے وزیر اعظم کاکڑ اور دیگر متعلقہ حکام کو کل 20 ستمبر کو عدالت میں پیش ہونے کے لیے سمن جاری کر دیا۔
The caretaker government increased the price of gasoline and fuel by more than Rs. 14 on September 1.
The caretaker administration raised the price of gasoline by more than Rs. 26 and diesel by more than Rs. 17 per liter during last week’s fortnightly review.
The Finance Ministry claims that the decision was taken as a result of the increase in oil prices on the world market.
One industry expert told The Daily Beast that “the appreciation of the rupee will have a positive impact on the petroleum prices, but it will not be enough to offset the impact of rising global oil prices.”
