Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Jiang Zaidong Thursday called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here at the Prime Minister House and emphasized that China would always support Pakistan to achieve the common desire of both the countries to secure peace and stability in South Asia.
China assures continued support to Pakistan in ensuring regional peace. This was reaffirmed by Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong during his meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday at the Prime Minister House.
Ambassador Jiang appreciated the Prime Minister’s detailed perspective on the situation caused by India’s recent actions. He emphasized China’s firm stance on supporting Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability in South Asia.
China Assures Continued Support Amid Regional Tensions
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended greetings to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He thanked China for its unwavering support. The Prime Minister also noted a recent phone call between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, which strengthened bilateral trust.
Support for a Transparent Pahalgam Investigation
In particular, the Prime Minister appreciated China’s endorsement of Pakistan’s offer to conduct a neutral and transparent international investigation into the Pahalgam incident. China assures continued support in holding a fair inquiry, he said.
China Recognizes Pakistan’s Role Against Terrorism
Pakistan has consistently opposed terrorism in all forms. The Prime Minister stated that over 90,000 lives were lost, and the nation suffered $152 billion in economic damage. However, he warned that India’s hostility could hinder Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
Concerns Over India’s Use of Water as a Weapon
Shehbaz Sharif criticized India’s attempt to weaponize water resources. He said the Indus Waters Treaty does not allow any party to unilaterally abandon its commitments. This step, he added, damages regional cooperation.
Peaceful Resolution of Kashmir Is Essential
Furthermore, the Prime Minister stressed that resolving the Jammu and Kashmir issue is the only way to achieve lasting peace in South Asia.
Ambassador Jiang concluded the meeting by reaffirming that China assures continued support for Pakistan’s efforts to maintain regional harmony. He thanked the Prime Minister for openly sharing Pakistan’s position.
