LAHORE: PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has offered PML-Q leader and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi a key post in order to seek the latter’s support for the opposition’s planned no-trust move against the Imran Khan government, ARY News reported Tuesday, quoting informed sources.
In an effort to secure Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s support for the opposition’s planned no-trust action against the Imran Khan administration, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has extended an offer of a prominent position to the speaker of the Punjab Assembly and leader of the PML-Q.
They said that the PML-Q leader got this offer from the Opposition Speaker in the National Assembly through their shared political friends.
According to the sources, Shehbaz Sharif wanted the PML-Q’s backing to ensure the anticipated no-trust action was effective. They added that the PML-N president suggested that the two parties collaborate in the future in addition to offering a significant position in Punjab.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, they claimed, had not yet replied to the PML-N offer.
The event occurs one day after PML-Q leader and Minister of Water Resources Moonis Elahi pledged to back the current administration going forward.
He reportedly conveyed Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was in attendance at the international hydropower symposium on Monday, a “clear message.”
The PML-Q leader unintentionally brought up the Sunday meeting between Shehbaz Sharif and the Chaudhry brothers when he remarked, “We are political folks with contacts. “It is our job to meet with people and whoever comes to our home, we welcome him.”
Elahis shot back, waving at PM Khan, “We have a relationship with you that is meant to be maintained.”
