RUSSIA ANNOUNCES A HUMANITARIAN END IN UKRAINE

Europe World

MOSCOW: Moscow has announced a humanitarian ceasefire in Ukraine for Wednesday morning to carry out the evacuation of the civilian population.

“From 10:00 MSK (0700 GMT) on March 9, 2022, the Russian Federation is declaring a ‘regime of silence’ and is ready to provide humanitarian corridors,” a cell of the Russian defence ministry charged with humanitarian operations in Ukraine said Tuesday.

It’s still unknown how the battle will turn out nine months after Russia invaded Ukraine again.

The Russian military doesn’t appear to be able to seize control of Kyiv or a significant portion of the country. It’s possible that Ukrainian forces will keep moving forward in their attempts to recover territory even after three months of wins.

Another option is that neither side will be able to win a significant victory very soon, and the battle will continue for a longer period of time.

It is difficult to predict how this battle will ultimately turn out. However some significant implications for Russia’s relations with the US, Europe, and Ukraine have emerged.

The war has been catastrophic not only for Russia’s economic, military, and geopolitical position, but also for Ukraine and its people.
