PUNJAB WILL OFFER FREE INfertility TREATMENT FROM JUNE

LAHORE: The government of Punjab will provide free treatment of infertility in the province from June.

For the first time in the country, the province will provide government-funded infertility treatment, according to the Punjab Health Department.

In the private sector, in vitro fertilization (IVF) costs hundreds of thousands of rupees for childless couples hoping to become parents.

Thanks to government financing, couples without children will be able to utilize the facilities for free.

The health officials claim that this section was first established at the Mother-Child Care Hospital in Lahore. The health department announced that “this facility will be provided on a government level starting in June of this year.”

For prenatal diagnoses of physical and mental health problems in children, the hospital would provide a free diagnostic service.

The department of health announced that “a center will also be established to diagnose health problems of mothers during the pregnancy period.”

While there are private hospitals all around Pakistan that treat infertility, this will be the first time the government offers the surgery at a public institution. In 2017, the Federal Shariat Court made a ruling allowing married couples to lawfully use IVF treatment.
