LAHORE: Punjab has logged 445 fresh COVID-19 cases during the past 24 hours, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
According to the secretary primary health secondary healthcare Punjab, Imran Sikandar Baloch, two people succumbed to the deadly virus over the past 24 hours, while the number of active COVID-19 cases in Punjab currently stands at 6,152.
As many as 18,966 tests were conducted out of which 445 remained positive for the coronavirus. Baloch said over 14 million of Punjab’s total population has been vaccinated against the COVID-19, while in the second phase, more than 26 million people will receive the vaccine jabs.
On Monday, Punjab’s Education Minister, Murad Raas, said that over 5.6 million students have received the Covid-19 vaccine in classrooms throughout the province.
He declared on Twitter that 87% of students at private schools and 91% of students in public schools had received vaccinations. We’re going full speed ahead with the Health Department.
Sindh is now the new epicenter of the pandemic, with the province being responsible for over three-quarters of the recently reported cases of Covid-19. According to the NCOC, the province reported 1,402 illnesses and 9 deaths in the previous 24 hours.
There were 445 new cases and 2 deaths in Punjab; 52 cases and 2 deaths in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P); 165 cases in Islamabad; 3 cases in Balochistan; and 7 cases in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). According to the forum, Gilgit Baltistan did not have any new Covid-19 cases or fatalities.
