Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved an increase of Rs5.40 per litre of petroleum products prices against the summary moved for price hike up to Rs11 per litre.
The premier also approved an increase of Rs2.54 in the price of high-speed diesel.Prime Minister Khan okayed a hike of Rs1.39 in the prices of Kerosene oil and Rs1.27 in light diesel. The new prices of the petroleum products will be in effect from tonight.
The costs of petroleum goods have increased by up to Rs 5.40 paise on the international market, according to the federal government.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to provide some relief to the people contrary to OGRA’s recommendations regarding prices of petroleum products,” stated Shahbaz Gill, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Political Relations, in a statement posted on the social media platform Twitter.
He stated that the OGRA had suggested raising the price of petrol by Rs 11.40 per litre due to the escalating costs of petroleum goods on the international market over the past few months.
