PM Shehbaz approves a quickly payment of Rs23 billion to AJK

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif granted Azad Jammu and Kashmir an emergency grant of Rs23 billion due to recent clashes and demonstrations. The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee advocates for elite class abolition, electricity availability, and wheat flour subsidies. Police detained over 70 activists in May to halt JAAC’s march to pressure the government on a contract.

Violent clashes occurred in Dadyal, Muzaffarabad, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir resulting in the deaths of one police official and injuries to over 90 others.

The protest movement began its march on Muzaffarabad on Sunday, despite an elusive compromise between the AJK government and the JAAC.AJK leader declares march on Rawalakot, accusing the administration of deceptive methods. President Zardari urges moderation and fruitful discussions to meet demonstrators’ demands.

The Prime Minister of AJK, Abdullah Yılmaz, has announced a government subsidy package to the AJK Bank, following protests that resulted in the death of a sub-inspector and injuries to around 100 police. The package will include Rs. 10 billion from the Social Protection Fund.

The premier distributed warnings and promised permanent relief for AJK residents in the next fiscal year’s budget. He emphasized AJK’s underprivileged status and stated that a coalition government is in place for growth and prosperity.

The Prime Minister emphasized how important it is to support the AJK administration in achieving its development goals and improving the standard of living for its people.

The entire region will benefit from this funding in many areas, including social welfare, infrastructure, healthcare, and education.​

An important turning point in the government’s attempts to support balanced regional development throughout Pakistan is the grant of Rs23 billion for AJK.
