Pakistan-Turkiye Strategic Partnership Reaffirmed for Regional Development

Ankara: Pakistan and Turkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to the Pakistan-Turkiye strategic partnership. The leaders emphasized enhancing peace, regional development, and long-term prosperity. This renewed focus came during a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.

The two leaders met during Prime Minister Shehbaz’s two-day official visit to Turkiye. Their discussions focused on expanding cooperation across key sectors. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum of their bilateral ties.

According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office, the talks highlighted the historical and brotherly relationship between the two nations. They reaffirmed their mutual goal of boosting collaboration in various fields, including trade, energy, defence, and emerging technologies.

Pakistan-Turkiye Strategic Partnership Strengthens Economic and Defense Cooperation

Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized the significance of enhancing economic cooperation. He encouraged joint ventures and mutual investments to drive regional growth. He stressed potential collaboration in energy, mining, defence manufacturing, agriculture, and emerging sectors like artificial intelligence and cyber security.

Moreover, the two leaders reviewed progress on follow-up actions taken after the 7th High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC). This meeting was held in Islamabad on February 13, 2025. Both leaders were pleased with the outcomes of the council and agreed to continue momentum through sustained bilateral engagement.

Pakistan-Turkiye Support for Gaza and Shared Regional Interests

Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Erdogan also addressed major regional and international developments. They reiterated support for each other’s national interests. Both stressed the importance of deeper diplomatic coordination moving forward.

Additionally, both leaders expressed grave concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. They called for an immediate ceasefire and unimpeded humanitarian aid to the affected population. President Erdogan commended Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and acknowledged its efforts to provide relief assistance.

Pakistan-Turkiye Strategic Partnership to Boost Regional Stability

The Pakistani delegation accompanying Prime Minister Shehbaz included Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, SAPM Tariq Fatemi, and Ambassador Dr. Yusuf Junaid. President Erdogan also hosted an official banquet to honor the visiting dignitaries.

Overall, the visit reaffirmed the deep-rooted friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye. With shared aspirations for development, connectivity, and regional stability, both nations remain committed to working closely in the future.
