Pakistan cricket selectors have announced 16 players and five reserves for the three Tests against Australia, which will be played in Rawalpindi (4-8 March), Karachi (12-16 March) and Lahore (21-25 March).
Chief selector Wahab Riaz has named an 18-man Pakistan Test team for the three matches that will be played in Australia between December 14, 2023, and January 7, 2024. This will be Wahab’s first assignment since taking over the national men’s selection committee last week.
In this capacity, Shan Masood will lead the team for the first time. He was chosen as Pakistan’s captain for the 2023–25 cycle of the ICC World Test Championship, having taken over as captain from Babar Azam last week.
Thanks to an incredible Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023–24 season, left-handed opener Saim Ayub has made his debut appearance in the Test squad. In four games for Karachi Whites, the 22-year-old scored 3 hundreds and 553 runs, including a game-winning double century against Faisalabad in the tournament final. He continued to play well in the one-day Pakistan Cup, where he won best batter and finished as the competition’s top run scorer.
Prior to the tour, the team will convene for a training camp in Rawalpindi on November 22. The camp is slated to take place at Pindi Cricket Stadium from November 23 to November 28. The group was scheduled to depart via plane from Lahore on November 30. e camp.
