The news that fast bowler star Shaheen Afridi has reclaimed the top position on the most recent ICC Men’s ODI Bowler Rankings has given Pakistan a lift just months before the ICC Champions Trophy begins next year.
After taking eight wickets at an average of 12.62 in three matches during Pakistan’s recent series victory over Australia, Afridi has reclaimed his position as the best bowler in 50-over cricket.
Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan is still in second place, while South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj dropped two spots to third place, and Afridi moved up three spaces to take the top spot.
2. Rankings of Men’s ODI Bowlers
After taking 10 wickets and winning Player of the Series against Australia, Afridi’s teammate Haris Rauf moves up 14 spots to 13th overall and sets a new career high rating. Meanwhile, fellow countryman Naseem Shah also sets a new career-best rating, moving up 14 spots to equal 55th.

3. Rankings for Men’s ODI Batter
With new captain Mohammad Rizwan (up two spots to equal 23th) also improving on the list for ODI batsmen after his 74 runs in Australia, it looks good for Pakistan ahead of the Champions Trophy tournament next year.
In the ODI bowling rankings, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (up nine spots to equal 23rd) and Gudakesh Motie (up one spot to equal 14th) were among the movers, while Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai (up two spots to equal 31st) and Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (up 11 places to equal 23rd) also made progress.
Despite some progress this week from Mehidy (up four spots to fourth) and Omarzai (up two spots to ninth), Afghanistan veteran Mohammad Nabi continues to lead the list of ODI all-rounders.
4. All-Rounder Rankings for Men’s ODI
The most recent T20I rankings have also seen a number of changes, with West Indies sensation Nicholas Pooran (10th) and England’s Phil Salt (second) and Jos Buttler (sixth) both moving up one spot inside the top 10 for batters after some impressive performances in the opening two games of their ongoing Caribbean series.
Following some impressive performances in the Proteas’ ongoing series against India, South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks (up two spots to 12th) and Tristan Stubbs (up 12 places to 26th) make notable improvements on the same list for T20I batters. Meanwhile, India’s right-hander Sanju Samson (up 27 spots to 39th) also improves following his century in Durban in the series’ opening match.
5. Rankings for Men’s T20I Batter
The biggest mover in the new T20I bowlers rankings Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, who rises four spots to second place behind Adil Rashid, who ranked first. Other tweakers Akeal Hosein of the West Indies, who is ranked third, and Ravi Bishnoi of India, who is ranked seventh, both move up one spot inside the top 10.
6. List of Men’s T20I Bowlers
For T20I all-rounders, Hasaranga (up one spot to fifth) and versatile West Indies star Romario Shepherd (up four spots to ninth) are the biggest movers, while England’s Liam Livingstone continues to lead the rankings.
