KARACHI: Experienced pacer Mohammad Amir and rookie pacer Mohammad Ilyas of Karachi Kings have been ruled out of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7 due to injuries.

Due to injury, Muhammad Ilyas and Mohammed Amir, the Karachi Kings’ speed combo, will miss the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022, the team said on Friday.

The Kings announce that Amir “shall also no longer be available to participate in the remainder of the HBL PSL 7” since his back condition worsened during his recuperation.

The team’s management decided that fast bowler Ilyas, who sustained an injury on the field and had an MRI that revealed it had gotten worse, deserved a six-week layoff.

After recovering from therapy, Ilyas bowled two overs in the last game against Lahore Qalandars on January 30. However, MRIs “confirmed the worst,” and it was advised that he rest for the next six weeks or so, the statement said.

The pacer will leave for his birthplace of Peshawar on Saturday.

The squad expressed gratitude to the bowler for his “service and selflessness that embodies the spirit of family and effort this team stands for” and expressed their wishes for Ilyas to recuperate quickly and get back to his fighting form.

Then, the Kings requested that Usman Shinwari be chosen for the role from the league’s reserve list by the PSL technical committee. The left-arm pacer, who was once a member of the Kings, can now be found out after their request was granted.
