FM Qureshi Participates in SCO Ministerial Council in Dushanbe

Dushanbe: Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi is in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe to represent Pakistan at the meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

During the three-day visit, the Pakistani foreign minister will speak at the ministerial council and attend meetings of SCO foreign ministers contact group on Afghanistan.FM Qureshi will share Pakistan’s perspective on the situation in Afghanistan and stress the imperative of a peaceful, negotiated political solution.
On the side-lines of the meeting, he is scheduled to meet with his counterparts from China, Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.Bilateral and regional ties, besides issues of mutual interests would be discussed during these meetings.During his stay, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will also call on President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.The Dushanbe summit will consider several important documents for subsequent adoption in the SCO Council of Heads of State in September this year.Re

He will meet with the foreign ministers of Afghanistan, Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan outside of the conference. These discussions will cover topics of shared interest, such as fostering regional connections and bilateral cooperation.

Imam Ali Rehman, the president of Tajikistan, will also meet with Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

It is anticipated that the visit by the foreign minister will contribute to the advancement of the peace process in Afghanistan, the adoption of a regional strategy for law and order, and the development of multilateral cooperation amongst SCO member nations.
