ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said on Sunday the door-to-door vaccination campaign launched by NCOC has been producing outstanding results across the country.

Taking to Twitter, the NCOC head said: “Highest daily covid-19  vaccination records set 3 days in a row. Nationwide mobile vaccination campaign designed by NCOC and being implemented with help of provinces producing outstanding results”.

“Target is to reach all citizens to allow us to finally end all covid related restrictions,” he wrote in a tweet.

In summary, while extensive social interventions were implemented in Pakistan during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, our findings suggest that a reevaluation of countermeasures is necessary to identify any gaps or inadequacies in their execution, ultimately leading to the triumph of the fight against COVID-19.

The overall case-fatality rates as of August 16, 2020, were found to be lower in Pakistan (2.1%), India (1.9%), and Bangladesh (1.3%) compared to major developed countries like the United States of America (USA, 3.1%), the United Kingdom (UK, 13%), France (14.9%), Germany (4.1%), Italy (13.9%), and Spain (8.3%), as well as other regional countries like China (5.2%), Iran (5.7%), and Afghanistan (3.6%). Certain regions of Pakistan, such as Azad Kashmir, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh, have lower case-fatality rates than the country as a whole (Fig. 3B). It is still important to look into the cause of the lower case-fatality rate. The age distribution in Pakistan can play a role. There are almost 220 million people living in Pakistan.
