A civilian was martyred and three others including two women sustained injuries in Indian troops blatant violation of the Line of Control in Kashmir, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday. According to a tweet posted by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General, the Indian army targeted the civilian population in Rakhchikri and Khanjar Sectors along the Line of Control. As usual, the Indian soldiers targeted the civilian population with rockets and mortars in Tari Band and Samahni villages near the LoC in Azad Kashmir.
As a result of the unprovoked Indian firing, one citizen embraced shahadat while three other civilians including two women got injured, the ISPR DG said.
Pakistani military responded effectively to the Indian firing and targeted Indian army posts. This latest episode at the LoC came a day after a senior Indian diplomat was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad to register Pakistan’s strong protest over ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control (LoC) on November 11, resulting in serious injuries to one innocent civilian. “Due to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing by the Indian occupation forces in Rakhchikri Sector of the LoC, 26-year-old Sagheer Ahmed s/o Rasheed Ahmed, resident of Village Kirni, sustained serious injuries,” the Foreign Office Spokesperson said. The MFOA spokesperson said: “The Indian occupation forces along the LoC and the Working Boundary (WB) have been continuously targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-caliber mortars and automatic weapons.”
This year, India has committed 2660 ceasefire violations to date, resulting in 20 shahadats and serious injuries to 203 innocent civilians. Condemning the deplorable targeting of innocent civilians by the Indian occupation forces, it was underscored that such senseless acts are in clear violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, and are also against all established humanitarian norms and professional military conduct. These egregious violations of international law reflect consistent Indian attempts to escalate the situation along the LoC and are a threat to regional peace and security. It was added that by raising tensions along the LoC and the WB, India cannot divert attention from the grave human rights situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK). The Indian side was called upon to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, investigate this and other such incidents of deliberate ceasefire violations and maintain peace along the LoC and the WB. The Indian side was also urged to allow the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolutions.
