Taking to Twitter, Babar congratulated the Qalandars for PSL 7 triumph, while also lauded the performance of both finalists – the Qalandars and Multan Sultans.
Babar Azam, the captain of the Karachi Kings and 2020 Pakistan Super League (PSL) champion, congratulated Lahore Qalandars on winning PSL 7.
The top-ranked T20I batsman also expressed gratitude to Shaheen Shah Afridi for his outstanding leadership of the Qalandars and expressed compassion for Muhammad Rizwan, the captain of Multan Sultans, who led his team to the runners-up position in the final.
Babar went on to thank the cricket supporters for their steadfast support throughout the competition and for packed the stadiums to cheer on their favorite teams, which contributed much to the success of the PSL 7.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Qalandars won their first PSL championship yesterday night, defeating the Sultans, the current champions, by a margin of 42 runs in the main event final.
Babar Azam was the main reason Lahore Qalandars failed, despite the fact that they needed something extraordinary to offset the low total. With an unbeaten fifty, the Pakistani skipper drove his team across the finish line with ease. Karachi Kings succeeded in chasing down the 135-run threshold with five wickets and eight balls left. Babar established the tone for the chase and didn’t look back after hitting a few boundaries off Shaheen Shah Afridi in the opening over.
The fact that Qalandars dismissed Alex Hales (11) and Sharjeel Khan (13) with ease to reduce Karachi to 49 for 2 may have given them confidence in their chances. Babar, however, ensured that when pursuing, his team was always in the lead. A 61-run stand stood between him and Chadwick Walton.
