Describing the opposition parties’ gathering in Islamabad as an attempt to defame the state institutions, Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday said Pakistani armed forces were the guarantors of national security. The PML-N had again promoted the Indian agenda, said Imran while speaking at a meeting of government spokespersons, which discussed the matters related to the All Parties Conference (APC) held Sunday and the declaration issued after that. He said defaming the Pakistan Army before the UN General Assembly session was part of the Indian conspiracy, adding that an entire lobby outside Pakistan had been working against the military. There is an international conspiracy to vilify Pakistan, said the prime minister who added that India wanted to destabilise Pakistani institutions and the country. Mentioning that the countries like Syria, Iraq and Libya have been destroyed because of weak military, he said a proclaimed offender sitting in London was disparaging the national institutions. “Nawaz Sharif’s speech and the news items published in The Times of India are a reflection of an agenda. The Indian media is spewing venom against the Pakistani institutions after Nawaz Sharif’s speech,” Imran told his spokespersons. He vowed to foil the conspiracy to vilify the national institutions, saying they won’t allow defaming judiciary and military. The PML-N attacked judiciary, Imran said and added that the people had watched the video of Justice (retd) Qayyum. The army had always supported the nation whenever any calamity hit the country, Imran recalled and mentioned that they played an important role in fighting the locust attack. The army was serving the country in jointly with the nation, he added. Speaking on the occasion, the participants of the meeting said the PML-N leadership liked their favourite judges and officers. According to them, history is proof of the fact that Nawaz Sharif first appoints the institutions’ heads himself and then starts fighting with them. The only objective of the opposition parties, they said, was to come into power.
