ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday said that announcement to present a no-trust motion is an attempt at a bargaining chip for a fresh deal.

The PTI government is prepared to defeat any such proposal. Minister of Foreign Affairs Shah Mahmood Qureshi said, “Those discussing the introduction of a motion of no confidence have acknowledged Imran Khan as prime minister,” while addressing reporters in his home city of Multan.

“The practice of referring to Imran Khan as the “chosen” prime minister must stop,” the minister went on. The people of Pakistan chose him to be their prime minister.”

Any such plan is ready to be defeated by the PTI government. “Those discussing the introduction of a motion of no confidence have acknowledged Imran Khan as prime minister,” Foreign Affairs Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said, addressing reporters in Multan, his hometown.

The minister continued, “The practice of referring to Imran Khan as the “selected” prime minister must stop.” He was selected by the Pakistani people to serve as prime minister.”During a visit to Larkana on Friday, the PPP chairman declared that he would suggest that the 11-party opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) put up a no-confidence motion in the parliament to topple the PTI administration.

“The people will restore this [PTI] administration in a democratic, legal, and constitutional manner.

Qureshi claimed that because the political groups that make up the PDM are no longer consolidated, the opposition alliance has begun to fall apart.

Sheikh Rashid, the interior minister, rejected the PPP‘s suggestion and stated that the PDM was free to suggest as many votes of no-confidence as it pleased. “This has been attempted before in the Senate [by the opposition] to remove Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani in 2019 but it was unsuccessful,” he state.
