COAS Iranian FM Discuss Bilateral Cooperation, Regional Stability

COAS Iranian FM discuss strategic matters during a key meeting in Islamabad. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi called on Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, according to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

“The meeting featured constructive discussions on the geo-strategic environment, with particular focus on security challenges faced by both nations,” said the ISPR. COAS Iranian FM discuss also included enhancing bilateral coordination through strengthened border security mechanisms.

General Munir reiterated that Pakistan and Iran are brotherly neighbors with strong historical, cultural, and religious bonds. Both sides agreed to maintain continuous engagement for improved cooperation and to support regional peace efforts.

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi praised Pakistan’s commitment to promoting stability in the region. He also acknowledged the country’s efforts to handle rising tensions responsibly.

Earlier in the day, the Iranian FM met President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to review bilateral ties and regional developments, especially the India-Pakistan situation following the Pahalgam incident.

President Zardari emphasized the importance of joint Iran-Pakistan efforts in ensuring regional peace. PM Shehbaz rejected India’s baseless accusations and called for an impartial international investigation into the Pahalgam events.

PM Sharif further asserted that the Kashmir dispute remains the root cause of instability in South Asia and warned against India’s attempts to deflect global attention from it.

The officials also discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, condemning Israel’s ongoing human rights violations in Gaza and the West Bank.
