Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. During the call, Wang Yi assured that China voices support for Pakistan following Pahalgam incident and rejects any unilateral narratives.
China Calls for Transparent Investigation
Wang Yi emphasized the need for a fair investigation into the Pahalgam attack and encouraged resolving disputes through dialogue. He stated that countering terrorism is a shared responsibility of all nations.
Strengthening Pakistan’s Sovereignty
China reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Pakistan’s sovereignty and security. Wang Yi assured that China stands firmly by Pakistan in addressing security challenges. Ishaq Dar appreciated China’s ongoing support.
Details of the Pahalgam Incident
The Pahalgam incident saw 26 individuals killed in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). India, without providing evidence, blamed Pakistani elements, a claim strongly denied by Islamabad.
Pakistan and India’s Growing Tensions
Following the Pahalgam incident, India suspended key agreements like the Indus Waters Treaty and closed the Wagah-Attari border crossing. Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) responded firmly, warning that blocking water flows would be considered an act of war.
