100 Pakistanis return from India tomorrow

Local

More than 100 Pakistanis will return from India tomorrow on (November 4). Sources said that the countrymen, mostly Hindus, will enter Pakistani through Wagah border. Hindus constitute Pakistan’s major non-Muslim minority, estimated at between two per cent of the population. They include members of parliament, former chief justice and prominent names in the arts.

After their quarantine period is over, the returning families will be returned back to their separate ancestral locations, according to sources. After arriving, the families were supplied food and transportation.

During their stay in the adjacent country, these families had challenges due to the Indian government’s lack of provision of financial aid or lodging accommodations.

These Hindu families have been given special clearance by the Pakistani government to return to Pakistan across the Wagah border, allowing them to easily return to their ancestral lands.

The family expressed their happiness upon arriving and mentioned that they would now be able to see their loved ones.

Previously, a number of Hindu families from Pakistan have returned to Pakistan following mistreatment in India.

They will now get a medical examination, and if necessary, they will be placed in quarantine, according to the article.

Nearly 300 Pakistanis who were stuck in India have returned so far. They were separated by the COVID-19 lockdown and stuck in different states.

Last month, Pakistan also permitted Indian-occupied Kashmiri students enrolled in several Pakistani universities to return from India across the Wagah border.
